Empowered by the Herd

With equine assisted teambuilding and leadership development opportunities, your organization can be Empowered by the Herd! As prey and herd animals, horses are adept at sensing and responding to a human’s intentions, emotions, and body language. Experiencing the horse’s response provides a deeply honest, in-the-moment learning experience that cannot be acquired in a traditional teambuilding setting.

Through equine assisted learning at Riverwood, Empowered by the Herd provides your organization the perfect setting for teams to:

  • Improve verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Build trust and respect among team members
  • Expand creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Cultivate leadership potential
  • Develop confidence
  • Form meaningful connections, both with one another and with the horses

Sessions are personalized to address specific group needs and goals through closely supervised, unmounted, interactive activities with the horses. Programming ranges from half-day workshops to comprehensive, multi-day plans. Collaboration with outside leadership professionals and community speakers is an add-on option. Our programs include all materials, basic A/V, as well as several food and beverage options. Riverwood has outdoor and indoor arenas, as well as temperature-controlled indoor spaces for group discussion and processing. If you have questions or are interested in this opportunity for your group or organization, please contact Susan Wood at instructor@riverwoodtrc.org.
