How to help
Riverwood is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable corporation that is governed
by a volunteer board of directors. All Riverwood students are charged a fee for
lessons that is discounted in order to make therapeutic riding affordable for our
families. The fees charged only cover 30% of our operating costs. A limited number
of need-based scholarships are available.
In order to meet our operating budget, fundraising events, gifts, grants, special events and donations have to account for 70% of our income. You will find some giving opportunities listed below. Please contact us for any questions you may have about ways you can support Riverwood. Donations are vital to our success, and every dollar counts! We are truly grateful for the support of the entire Riverwood family!

Corporate sponsors play a significant role in the success of our special events, from benefit dinners to horse shows. RTRC works with Corporate Sponsors to customize their involvement in order to best meet the corporations' specific philanthropic, marketing and employee interests and involvement needs.
Hearts and Hooves Giving Society
Hearts and Hooves is a group of devoted donors who are building Riverwood’s capacity to meet the growing need for equine assisted services in our community. Members make an minimum annual gift of $2,500. There is an immediate desire to sustain our student scholarship and horse care funds, which have increased in need due to growth in programming and number of students. Our goal is to raise $100,000 annually through the Hearts and Hooves Giving Society, which will be used to meet the current demand for services and to meet the growing demand for services over the next 5 years. The members of this society are truly paving the way for Riverwood’s bright future and are recognized as our sustainers. Learn more here
or contact the office with questions.
Horse and Rider Sponsors
Horse sponsorships are $1,000 per year and help offset the costs associated with equine care. We hope to have a minimum of two – three sponsors per horse. Student sponsorships are $1000 a year and supplement costs that are not covered by tuition,
including scholarships. It is Riverwood’s policy to not turn anyone away for financial reasons,
so we rely heavily on the generosity of the community to assist us with this cost. If you, your family, business, or any group or organization would like to learn more about student sponsorships, or would like to sponsor one of our amazing therapy horses
