Striding for Health 2023!

On July 15th (National I Love Horses Day) Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center proudly kicked off our 2023 Striding for Health campaign. This annual 6-week fundraiser focuses solely on the crucial importance of the health and wellbeing of our herd partners. Our horses receive the very best care, not only from their vet, but also their equine dentist, farrier, chiropractor, and saddle fitter. All of these talented professionals work in conjunction with our staff to ensure a healthy and happy herd, which benefits the horses as well as our students. These services, while vitally important, are also quite expensive. Therefore, once a year, we respectfully reach out to ask for your generous assistance with these ever increasing costs. On behalf of the Riverwood staff and our incredible herd partners, thank you!

Our herd receives the very best care from Dr. Thrift and her incredible team at Sullivan Equine Veterinary Service. While it all depends on how many horses are seen, the average cost of a visit is about $450

As horses age, their teeth become softer and they require additional dental care! Specialized dental care like this cost about $200 per horse.

Once a month Dr. Karla visits Riverwood to perform chiropractic adjustments on different horses in our herd. She customizes her treatment to each horse's needs. Chiropractic adjustments like this cost Riverwood $100 per visit per horse.

A couple times a year a professional saddle fitter visits Riverwood. They make sure all of our horses' tack fits properly to prevent any soreness in their back and neck. The average cost of a visit from the saddle fitter is $450. If new tack is needed to meet the needs of our herd there are additional costs.
